Hands Off: A Coast-to-Coast Stand Against Harmful Policies

On April 5, 2025, something historic happened. In what has become one of the largest one-day, nationwide demonstrations of public resistance against the second Trump administration, Americans across all 50 states gathered under one powerful banner: Hands Off.

Every state held at least one event where people showed up to say enough is enough. Enough to the erosion of democracy. Enough to the targeting of marginalized communities. Enough to policies that endanger our planet, restrict our freedoms, and roll back decades of progress.

This was more than protest. It was a collective act of refusal—refusing to normalize cruelty, corruption, and injustice. And it was a collective call to action—for dignity, truth, and equity in the face of authoritarian overreach. So many different messages were sent to elected officials that regular people are afraid this administration will harm them and affect their lives, jobs, and financial security.

What the “Hands Off” Movement Stands For

The “Hands Off” protests emerged in direct response to an escalating wave of regressive policies and rhetoric from the Trump administration—policies that have:

– Undermined reproductive rights
– Stripped protections from LGBTQIA+ individuals
– Fueled racial and religious discrimination
– Threatened voting rights and civil liberties
– Ignored climate science and endangered environmental safeguards
– Endangered the lives of immigrants living legally in the US
– Taking away programs from people who need them (education, federal aid, health care, school lunches, etc.)

RoesList Stands with the Movement

At RoesList, we know that business is never neutral. The choices companies make—who they hire, serve, support, and stand with—reflect deeper values. That’s why every business in the RoesList Directory affirms a clear commitment to:

– Protecting the rights of women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and BIPOC communities
– Operating with equity, inclusion, and accountability

We stand with the “Hands Off” movement because its message is our mission: Keep your hands off our rights. Off our neighbors. Off our future. Off our democracy.

Protest Is Just the Beginning

The April 5th protests were a milestone—but not an endpoint. Building a more just and inclusive future will take all of us: in the streets, in the voting booth, in our communities, and yes—even in the businesses we support every day.

If you’re a values-led business owner, or someone who wants to spend your dollars with businesses that reflect your beliefs, you’re in the right place. RoesList is a growing network of businesses that refuse to sit on the sidelines.

Together, we are creating a new economic ecosystem—one that prioritizes justice, inclusion, and accountability over profit at any cost.

So what now?

– Add your business to the directory.
– Share RoesList with your friends and customers.
– Keep showing up—because we’re just getting started.
